Rules & privacy
Sidepart is an open place for real conversation. These rules keep it that way.
What this is
Sidepart is a set of sections where people ask questions and talk things through with strangers. Everyone goes by an anonymous username.
It's meant to be a more thoughtful place than most forums. No DMs, no followers, no follower counts, and no ranking of people against each other. The sections are open to anyone who shows up willing to be decent.
Community rules
- Be kind. Disagree with ideas, not people. No insults, slurs or harassment.
- No hate. Nothing attacking people for their gender, race, religion, sexuality, disability or background.
- Respect privacy. Don't share anyone's personal details, photos or messages without consent.
- No spam or scams. No repeated self-promotion, fake accounts or vote manipulation.
- Keep it legal and safe. No sexual content involving minors, threats, or encouragement of self-harm.
- Stay on topic. Post in the section that fits, and follow each section's own guidelines.
Content that breaks these rules may be removed and accounts may be banned. Use Report on any post, comment or profile, then follow up in Settings → My reports.
No DMs. No followers.
Sidepart is built for conversation, not clout. Some things are deliberately missing, because they're where online spaces go wrong:
- No direct messages. Nobody can DM you, so nobody can pressure, pester or harass you in private. Everything happens in the open.
- No followers. No one can follow you, and you can't follow anyone. There are no audience counts, so nobody is competing to be an influencer here.
- No leaderboards or vote history. You see totals, never who voted on what, and no ranking of people against each other.
- No pressure to be identifiable. Most people go by a username. What you've said in one section doesn't follow you around the internet.
If someone bothers you, mute or block them from the menu on their profile. You'll never have to explain yourself to them, because they can't contact you directly.
Privacy
- What's public: your username, bio, posts, comments and the sections you create.
- What's private: your email, interests and gender. Gender is only shown if you turn it on, and is never shown next to your comments.
- What's never shown: who voted on what. Only totals are visible.
- We don't sell your data or show ads based on it.
- Your choices: mute and block people from their profile menu. To delete your account and data, contact us and we'll remove it.
